About Mariya

IMG_6617.JPEGHello and welcome to my page! I have been teaching since 2014. Although trained in both Traditional Violin and the Suzuki Method, I have found my spot in the world of Suzuki Violin to be the most impactful on my students, their families, and myself.

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor's in Music Performance and a Suzuki Pedagogy Certificate. Throughout my career in music, I have had incredible opportunities to perform in many different orchestras, play in small ensembles, solo performances, competitions, and intimate events, and perform alongside world-renowned musicians.

As a teacher, my top priority is to help students grow as musicians and people. I am committed to providing the very best instruction for students. From the first lesson, I focus on teaching proper techniques, skills, and habits that will benefit students throughout their entire violin journey. I work with parents and students to help them practice effectively, teach them tips and tricks to make practice enjoyable, and cultivate a love for learning and making beautiful music.

Dr. Suzuki once said "Beautiful tone, beautiful heart." His approach was to teach students music, but far greater than that, he wanted to help create beautiful people. I hold this philosophy close in my own teaching. Few of my students will become professional musicians, but every one of them will need the skills we learn from playing an instrument. I strive to cultivate a community of parents and students who work hard, find creative solutions, look at the bigger picture, develop self-discipline, encourage those around them, and grow a love for beautiful music.

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” ― William Arthur Ward
